Marathi font Problem in Photoshop

Marathi Font Problem in Photoshop

Many Photoshop versions have the same problem with Marathi fonts; sometimes problems like broken letters, missing fonts, or copy-paste problems occur. We solve this problem with simple steps so we can use Marathi fonts in Photoshop easily. First we need to know how to install Photoshop, and then I'll show how to solve the Marathi fonts problem.

🎨 Photoshop Marathi Font Problem – Full Solution

💡 Step 1: Install the Marathi Font Properly

  1. First, download a good Marathi font.
Popular Marathi fonts: Kruti Dev, Shree Lipi, Mangal, Poppins, Lohit Marathi, and Devnagari Marathi (you can download fonts from Google websites).

  2. After downloading the font, right-click the .ttf .otf .otf file and click Install.

  3. After installation, close and restart Photoshop so it can detect the new font.

💡 Step 2: Set Up the Correct Keyboard Layout for Marathi Typing

There are two main types of Marathi fonts:

  1. Unicode Fonts (like Mangal, Kokila, Aparajita)

    • Use Google Input Tools or Marathi Keyboard.

    • When you type “m,” you’ll actually see “म.”

    • You can find “Google Input Tools” on Google easily.

  2. Non-Unicode Fonts (like Kruti Dev, Shree Lipi)

    • These need a specific keyboard converter (e.g., the Kruti Dev Converter or the Shree Dev Converter).

    • Typing “k” might show “अ.”

    • You can find “Kruti Dev Keyboard” or “Shree Dev Keyboard” on Google easily.

💡 Step 3: Apply the Font in Photoshop

  1. Open Photoshop → Select Type Tool (T).

  2. On the top bar, open the font dropdown.

  3. Choose your installed Marathi font (e.g., “Mangal” or “Kruti Dev 010”).

  4. Start typing in Marathi!

💡 Step 4: If Letters Break or Show as Boxes

This usually happens because “Complex Script Support” is off in Windows.

👉 Here’s the fix:

  1. Close Photoshop.

  2. Go to Control Panel → Region and Language → Administrative tab → Change system locale → Set to Marathi (India).

  3. Restart your computer.

  4. Open Photoshop again—fonts should display correctly.

📌 If it still doesn’t work, install the Indic Fonts Support Pack (available for free from Microsoft’s website).

💡 Step 5: Fonts show the wrong character (text breaks after pasting).

Sometimes non-Unicode fonts are correct, but Unicode fonts like Poppins, Khand, and Amiko break or show wrong characters.
👉 Reason: Photoshop doesn’t fully support some Unicode text formats.

✅ Solution:

  • In Photoshop, go to Edit → Preferences → General → Type → Choose text engine option. → Click on Middle Eastern and South Asian. → Choose ok

  • Then restart the Photoshop again and use the font.

💡 Step 6: Missing Fonts (Font Not Appearing in List)

If your Marathi font isn’t visible in Photoshop’s font list:

  1. Check if the font file exists in C:\Windows\Fonts.

  2. If not, reinstall it.

  3. Restart Photoshop again.

💡 Step 7: Extra Tips (From a Friend 😉)

  • Always use Unicode fonts for long-term projects (better for web & print).

  • For stylish designs or logos, Shree Lipi or DevLys fonts look best.
